Camping in Maine and New Hampshire

| July 19, 2022

Looking for an inexpensive getaway?

New England has thousands of places to relax and enjoy yourself, and camping can be the easiest and least expensive way to do it.

I have traveled throughout New England and have stayed at some breathtaking locations. There are many, many more, but here are a few ideas for you and your family!

Blackwoods Campground - A 10-minute walk to the ocean, this campground is in the gorgeous Acadia National Park. If you live in New England, and have never been to Acadia, now is the time to go! It will be an unforgettable and amazing experience.

Cathedral Pines Campground - This campground is a bit of a drive, up to the top of Maine, but it is worth it! The campsites are the biggest I have ever seen and are clean, flat, and have beautiful lake views. A short drive to Canada, this getaway will completely relax you as you sit in the silence of the mountains, under the cathedral pine trees, watching the loons swim.

Lake Francis State Park - Another drive up to the border of NH will bring you to the Connecticut Lakes. A gorgeous area with cabins nearby, or you can stay on a campsite at Lake Francis. Be sure to drive up Rt. 3 early in the morning! It is almost a guarantee you'll see a moose or two.

Here is one of my favorite family pictures - this is a great place for fishing as well!

Pawtuckaway State Park - Much closer to home, this is a very popular spot for families and friends. You'll make friends with several ducks who are very used to the company. This campground has two islands and a cove to choose from!
